The Woollybacks annual 2014 Santa ride

Posted on Updated on

This December saw the annual Woollyback mountain bike club Santa ride take to Llandegla.

As no one would keep still (herding cat’s comes to mind) we think there were 25 out around the trails.

My usual role it to take a camera and that I did, but at the clouds were low and with the chance of rain I only took my tiny pocket camera so not all of the shots came out well, but here are a few

About 25 of us assembled in the LLandegla car park for pre-ride photos. Neal, Kiwi, Bulletman, P Paul + family, Notsospeedydaz, DaygloDave, Tyre, Gixxer, Zoomer, GlennC, syk0, Screwloose, Jobe, Mike WS, Maxpower, Hendy, GlennC, Mark, Darren, Hendy, amarsadayAndy and myself were among those present. Apologies to those I have missed; difficult to recognise Santas. Please post up if I have missed you.

People had gone to a lot of trouble with the Santa, Elves and Reindeer suits, and Hendy definitely had the most glitter on his bike, closely followed by Kiwi with an array of lights.

We did the black route with suitable stops for regrouping, and Kiwi was busy taking photos – look forward to them. The trail was mostly damp with some big puddles but firm, we were sheltered from the v strong wind for the most part, and the rain held off. There are some really exciting and challenging sections here which always makes riding so fast and flowing and enjoyable; the downside is the climbing which some found a bit too much, but you can’t have the one without the other. P Paul and family bravely rode the blue(?) route; the first climb seems to go on forever for little ones and is a real challenge, but they did it and hopefully enjoyed it.

We ended the day at the café and a nice chat, while Kiwi (JohnClimber), Neal and as few others opted for a second lap

See you next year at Delamere Forest
